Care: #1 Marketing hack in 2022 and always

Care. Customer care is your most important marketing hack. Always.


Especially if you don't have enough resources to flood the target territory with your own agenda.


Sincere care about the customer will fundamentally improve your marketing efforts in at least two ways.


But first, a personal story.

Beekeeper: LEGO 71029 Collectable Minifigures Series 21

I got this cute gift of the LEGO beekeeper a while ago. It probable costed 3€ but made me happier than 300 € of fancy electronics.


The givers knew I am fond of bees and LEGO so they builded their gift idea on this "intelligence". They also knew LEGO was selling the Minifigure series that included the beekeeper figure. The problem was, they couldn't just pick the figure and buy it, as it was a "surprise pack" and you only got one out of 12 items in the series. So they went to LEGO store and asked the seller to help them identify the right figure without opening the package or buying too many of them. Fast forward a few months, I keep the figure next to my computer and it constantly reminds me about the people who gave me this small, yet very nice surprise.


So what has this to do with marketing? A lot. It tells you that you don't always need a lot of resources to make an impact. But you need to - first - care. And then do your move.


Sincerely caring about the customer will boost your marketing in at least the following two ways


#1: Care fuels trust


And trust is the foundation of any relationship. Customers who trust you, will ask you for help.


#2: Care drives understanding.


And understanding is the foundation of relevance. If you understand the customer, their challenges and needs, you will be able to create better content. Your ads, brochures, emails or slogans on t-shirts will convert better, because they will be more relevant. Because customers will "get it".


So, whatever tactics you are using in marketing, start with care. Care about the customer.
